Zero Tolerance Regarding Photos
The SPCP has a Zero Tolerance
policy on the use of copyrighted or stock photos of others that are
published without proper consent or notice. It is up to the member to make
sure that if you are using a web designer that they know these facts – you
alone are responsible for what is on your website. In ALL cases, only your
own original work can be used in “before and after galleries” unless
properly referenced.
Certain companies that produce “stock photo” generic
websites are creating an injustice by allowing the public to believe these
photos are the personal work of the technician advertising them. This will
not be permitted without a statement below the photos stating that this is
not your actual work, but a photo used for representative purposes only. If
the SPCP is presented with a legitimate complaint of plagiarism or using
another technician’s photos without permission, the membership of the
offending technician will be immediately terminated and possible litigation
may arise from the affected party.
