Hotel check-in time should not be anticipated until after 3:00 p.m. and check out time is 12:00 p.m. Self-parking for overnight guests is $14; Valet Parking is available for $25.

 

If you want the SPCP to help you find a roommate for the Convention, you must Contact Us or call (847) 635-1330.as soon as possible. It is hard to find roommates as the convention nears. Remember February 21st, 2008 is the deadline for SPCP room rates - it is better to cancel a reservation if you find a roommate than to be without a room altogether!  However, you must be registered for the event by this time to keep our room block rate!

 

Travel Information:

George Bush International Airport serves many airlines, most with direct flights. Check with your travel agent or carrier for rates soon, as this is a favorite travel time and it is spring break for many. Transportation to the hotel from the airport is available by taxi or Super Shuttle. Important Convention Regulations

No videotaping or flash photography is permitted during lectures. All cell phones and pagers must be turned off or set to vibrate; text messaging is not permitted. Computers cannot be on during lectures.

 

In consideration of our paid vendors, there is to be no sales or promotion of products or services outside the vendor room. No procedures of any kind may be conducted anywhere within the hotel before or during the convention dates.
 

A name badge is required for admittance to all functions. Loss of your badge will result in a $10.00 replacement charge. Please help us eliminate the embarrassment of having to remove non-paying friends or relatives accompanying you to the lectures. Badges will be checked.

 

An evaluation form is provided at each class. For attendees to obtain credit hours, the evaluation form needs to be turned in immediately after each class. If you arrive fifteen minutes late for a lecture or leave before a lecture is completed, you cannot receive continuing education credits for that particular lecture. Certificates will be mailed after the convention.
 

CANCELLATION POLICY: A refund less a $50 processing fee will be made upon written request prior to February 29th, 2008. Personal checks will NOT be accepted after February 29th, 2008 postmark. For further information, call (847) 635-1330.

As an oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Kyle V. Acosta will explore potential ocular side effects associated with permanent cosmetics. Susan Preston will discuss the latest issues and claims that arise from working on a very stressed out public. People are either taking too much medication or need to be taking more – what is a permanent cosmetic professional to do? Susan will analyze what should be gleaned from the medical history forms that the clients complete. The trends that have arisen in the permanent cosmetic and beauty fields over the last few years will be analyzed, and actual case histories discussed. Sandra will demonstrate, via SPCP-style hands-on presentation, how to create depth with color using a coil machine. She will show you how to use different needle groupings and her proven techniques, such as shading and lining combinations with multi color layering to create very natural looking eyebrows. The all-important touch up visit will be presented as well. Many of us have witnessed Sandra's beautiful work posted on permanent cosmetics related sites on the Internet. Convention Speakers

Kyle V. Acosta, MD

This Specialized Oculopastic Surgeon was voted New Orleans's Top Eyelid Doctor in 2007 and Top Eyelid Doctor in Louisiana and America in 2007.  Dr. Acosta is a member of the American Academy of Opthamology, American College of Eye Surgeons and American College of Rejuvenology.  He obtained his Medical Degree from Louisiana State University of Medicine.  As the founder of the Eyelid Cosmetic Surgery Center of the South, Dr. Acosta is a true leader in the field of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.

 

 

Kari Boatner, BS, CPCP

Kari is a well-respected industry professional and inventor and manufacturer of her own fully disposable single-use manual devices.  As featured in ELLE Magazine and on the "OH!" OXYGEN Network, Kari is co-founder of the annual "Train with the Masters."  She is the co-founder of "The Millennium Woman Makeover," she is a Reader's Choice "Best in Permanent Cosmetics" in 2006 and 2007, and exclusively works within Florida Facial Surgical Associates, a five-physician maxillofacial practice in Daytona Beach.

Kathleen Ciampi, CPCP

Kate has been in the permanent cosmetics industry since 1991 and owns a tattoo studio, Perfection Dermagraphics, in a Chicago suburb.  She has a background in nursing as a cardiology department administrator.  As a long-time member of the SPCP, Kate served on the Board of Directors from 1994-1998 as President and Secretary.  She later served as Convention and Trainer Coordinator, and is now the current Executive Director, operating the SPCP main office in Des Plaines, Illinois through her company, Program Coordinators

 

 

Sandra Danchuk

Sandra owns a full service tattoo studio in British Columbia, Canada.  Her extensive client base has been established through word of mouth and globally through the US and the UK.  In order to prepare for her career in cosmetic tattooing, she took a two-year apprenticeship in traditional tattooing which gave her an extensive understanding of different techniques.  She receives many referrals from plastic surgeons for her skill in creating 3-D areola tattooing, scar camouflage, and realistic eyebrow tattooing.

Lana Duke

Lana Duke is the "secret weapon" behind some of the great success stories in American Business.  Raised in foster homes in Canada, Lana moved to New Orleans and sold pots and pans door-to-door.  In a true rags-to-riches tale, she graduated to advertising and built the Gulf South's largest woman-owned ad agency.  Laura worked closely with long-term client Ruth's Chris Steak House to create the world's #1 fine dining brand.  Today, Lana herself owns four Ruth's Chris restaurants and helps other entrepreneurs grow their businesses.

 

 

Elizabeth Finch-Howell, CPCP

Elizabeth Finch Howell, SPCP President, is a pioneer, recognized leader and lecturer in the permanent cosmetics industry. She has manufactured pigments since 1989, which are now used globally. In that same year, she was invited to join the offices of Dr. Roy Geronemus, former Chief of Laser Surgery at NYU. In 1992 Ms. Howell earned the prestigious credentials as the Director of the Department of Permanent Cosmetics at Saint Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, NJ. She brings much to the Train the Trainer program.

 

 

Marjorie Grimm, CPCP

Marjorie holds the prestigious position as one of the most credentialed people in our industry.  As past board member, she served as President and was awarded the prestigious Industry Leader Award.  Currently she is the SPCP's Publicist and Legislative consultant, the assistant editor for the newsletter, a certified trainer, SME representative, and chairs the Past Presidents Council.  Marjorie's lecture presentations are always reviewed as highly educational and entertaining and she carries this tradition to the Train the Trainer class.  

 

Debra Guastella, CPCP

Debra brings undisputable and recognized talents to the permanent cosmetics industry.  Her flare for pageantry and ability to make all feel welcome as the SPCP Convention Coordinator, and as the official event Emcee is enjoyed by all who attend. Her technical talents lend to respected fundamental and advanced training, specializing in areola repigmentation procedures. Debra is a past SPCP Director, internationally acclaimed industry educator, keynote speaker and a respected professional offering permanent cosmetic services in New Orleans.

Yolanda Moore, CPCP

Yolanda, an esteemed SPCP trainer member, founded LeMor® in 1989, long before permanent cosmetic application was popular and has performed permanent cosmetic procedures ever since.  Her eighteen years of industry experience translates into well over 10,000 hands-on procedures.  As a recognized expert/authority, Yolanda is a much sought after speaker both domestically and internationally.  She holds multiple degrees from the California State University, East Bay, and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley's prestigious Hall of Business.

 

 

Susan Preston

Susan is President of her insurance agency, Professional Program Insurance Brokerage in Novato, CA.  She has provided insurance to the permanent cosmetic industry for seventeen years and has worked with governing bodies when they sought industry regulations.  In 1990 Preston co-founded the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals.  In 1993 she was President of SPCP then as Chairman of the Board she worked with the board on industry standards.  Her articles on liability and marketing issues appear in national publications and websites.

David Vidra, LPN

David is currently the Health & Safety Advisor for the SPCP, and teaches numerous bloodborne pathogens and other related classes to our industry annually through his company, Health Educators.  He previously served on the SPCP Board of Directors and is a recipient of the prestigious Industry Leader Award.  David is involved in numerous governmental committees whose missions support industry safety.  Having been involved in piercing for over twenty years, David founded Cleveland’s first piercing studio, Body Work Productions.


 

Melany Whitney, CPCP

Melany is a Certified SPCP Trainer Member specializing in all areas of permanent cosmetics.  Graduating from Cornell University's School of Art and Architectures and working as a professional artist, she continued her career in fashion/ cosmetics at Estee Lauder and Revlon.  Ms. Melany's national reputation has led to professional associations with prominent plastic surgeons at Cornell-Weill Medical Center and the Maxillofacial Team at St. Joseph's Hospital.  She has been featured as an industry expert on The Today Show, Fox News, Entertainment Tonight, Inside Edition, and CNN
