SPCP Recognizes Its First CPCP-Certified Professional in Spain
Expanding Professional Standards Beyond Borders
The Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP) is pleased to recognize Airton Barbalho, CPCP, as the first professional in Spain to achieve the Certified Permanent Cosmetic Professional (CPCP) credential.
This milestone represents another step in the international reach of SPCP certification and reflects the growing interest among permanent makeup professionals worldwide in demonstrating their knowledge and commitment to professional standards.

Meet Airton Barbalho, CPCP
Based in Castellón de la Plana, Spain, Airton is a Biomedical Aesthetics Specialist and founder of AB Clínica de Medicina Estética. With more than 11 years of clinical experience, his professional work includes permanent makeup procedures such as microblading, lip blush, and eyeliner, alongside advanced aesthetic treatments.
Beyond his clinical practice, Airton has contributed to professional education internationally, having trained more than 500 professionals across several countries, including Brazil, Spain, Colombia, Bolivia, and Chile.
His work also extends into research and professional publications, with a particular interest in client safety and clinical considerations within permanent makeup.
Connecting Clinical Experience with Professional Standards
One of the reasons Airton pursued CPCP certification was to demonstrate his knowledge against an established, examination-based professional standard.
As regulations, training requirements, and professional expectations differ internationally, the CPCP credential provides an opportunity for qualified practitioners to demonstrate their understanding of important principles in permanent cosmetics, including infection prevention, procedural safety, and professional practices.
Airton has also contributed to published research examining safety considerations in permanent makeup, including the management of clients taking anticoagulant medications before eyebrow microblading.
His interest in combining practical clinical experience with research reflects the importance of continued education and informed decision-making within the industry.
As Airton explains:
"The CPCP gave me a common language with the American professional community. My work is to make PMU safer through better intake, better aftercare and published data, and that is where I want to contribute."
Recognizing Professional Achievement Internationally
The SPCP is proud to welcome Airton to its growing international community of certified professionals.
His achievement is a reminder that professional standards and a commitment to client safety extend beyond geographical boundaries. Through certification, continuing education, and the exchange of professional knowledge, the SPCP continues to support the advancement of permanent cosmetics worldwide.
Congratulations to Airton Barbalho, CPCP, on becoming our first CPCP-certified professional in Spain!
